My Greeting
Friday, August 31, 2007 For those in the Far East let me be the first to greet you a Merry Christmas. 'Tis the season. Time flies so so fast. My Condolences Thursday, August 30, 2007 Nakakapanghinayang na may isa na namang Iskolar ng Bayan ang binawian ng buhay. I was reading the comments posted at Cris Mendez's (RIP) friendster account. Tumatayo balahibo ko. I had the same feelings when I read the messages posted on the net after that shooting incident in the US just this year. Sabi dun sa friendster ni Cris, the last time he logged in was six days ago. If we could just turn back time and have those days back. I can never really feel how Cris' parents, relatives, and friends are feeling right now. But I do offer my condolences and sympathy to them. Nakakalungkot. Hope you are in a better place Cris. I don't know you but one time or another, our paths might have crossed while we were in UP. Rest in peace fellow iskolar para sa bayan. My Snack Sunday, August 26, 2007 This post is mainly inspired by this entry from Hanna. I remember drooling at the sight of these: These would do for now, now that I am here. But nothing compares to the former. They are on my to do list when I go home. Nothing beats Cello's. I can't even put into words how good they taste. The dough, the filling, the nuts, everything in perfect harmony. My Guilty Pleasure Tuesday, August 21, 2007 Alva did this first, then Steph. And now moi. 1. Are you taller than your mom? 3. What is the closest thing to you that is red? 4. What is your ring tone? 5. Does anything hurt on your body right now? 7. What is your favorite pc game? 10. Is there an animal that creeps you out? 12. Did you go ice skating as a kid? 14. Favorite non-alcoholic drink? 15. How long ago did you hug someone? 18. Have you ever seen a ghost? 21. Name something good that happened today. 22. What room are you in? 31. Sun or Moon? 36. Time of day you were born? 42. Which animal(s) remind you of yourself? 44. Did you grow up in the city or country? 46. Have you flown in your dreams? Sunday, August 19, 2007 One of the more entertaining music videos I'm really fond of seeing. Spike Jonze is one of the best directors, ever. How can one not like Christopher Walken dancing around like a crazy man. He's really in character. Remember that film with Julia Roberts, where he starred as a crazy director. And that movie with Drew Barrymore, where he was a crazy scientist, building a vault and thinking the commies dropped the bomb. He's one of my favorite actors. My Fishing Thoughts Thursday, August 9, 2007 The title of this blog was inspired by my good friend and ever loving sister from another mother and father, Mabes. I really miss her. Anyway, it's been months since I last saw her. November 2006, to be exact, a few days just before my mom's birthday. Then she flew away, away to the Garden State and to the Big Apple, where she eventually found work. Like most people here in Canada and the States, fishing is one summer activity that most people look forward too and do. I have not caught the fever, not yet. But today, while I was at work I had my own fishing thoughts, sort of. My supervisor is still on vacation, and I was one day late with the tasks she assigned. Well my trainer called in sick yesterday, so we missed one day. Anyway, just after lunch, I was asked to perform fill weight measurements just like I did last week. I actually didn't do the actual measurements as I was still in training, they wouldn't allow me to sign paperwork. What I did was just prepare the capsules, first in their original form, where they were first weighed; and then empty them of the oil and we weighed the shells. Long story short I emptied 40 capsules. My gosh, I was smelling, how do you say malansa in English. I smelled of fish. And even the workbench smelled of the same, not even after spraying it with alcohol did the smell go away. I don't if it's still there now though. Well when working with fish oil, you have to be careful not to squirt the oil on your hair or on your lab coat. I swear even with the lab coat, the aroma sticked to my shirt and pants, which I took off hurriedly when I got home. I even got oil on my hair. I put mousse on it to mask the smell. I can't wait to learn new stuff, two weeks in training and I have more to learn. But I think I am gettig the idea on what our department is for. I didn't expect the pharmaceutical industry to be this complicated and interesting, and regulated too. I just pray I could have more opportunities to learn new stuff. It is only now that I can appreciate my Chem subjects in college, hope I could meet my old friend Thermo hehe. Well tomorrow, Friday again. Time sure flies fast. My Early Lunch Wednesday, August 8, 2007 I came in to work today a wee bit early, just after 7am. We were three people there, at work, that early. Anyway, so I came in early and that meant I would take an early lunch. Around 10:30 I got hungry and started eating. It was only me in the lunch room. I gotta say, bringing baon to work is entirely new to me (even in college I didn't do that). Well I work in an industrial park and the only food store I encounter are two vending machines located at the other two lunch rooms, I have to walk two or three minutes to get there. And so I started to eat my lunch alone, prepared my meal, put it in the microwave, waited for a couple of minutes; well a minute or two. And while I was waiting for my food to get warm enough, I saw this: What an unusual brand eh? Well two more days before the weekend. The little things I appreciate now, just like bus ride home. It keeps my spirits up, the small things you look forward too. I still wish I'm back home. But a part of me says I like it here now. Wish my baby's with me. My Weird Sleeping Habits Saturday, August 4, 2007 Okay, I got through the week without any hitch. The job is a bit encouraging and I got little perks that I could use to lift up my spirits. Anyway, it's past midnight here and I can't sleep again. It is supposed to be different now because I work days now, I am supposed to be sound asleep and not, you know awake. Well to catch up on the news from our country, I always check the GMA website for updates. As I checked their homepage, reading on what could be interesting to watch (they post videos of news updates), I noticed a picture that is familiar to most of you who take time to read this blog. It was a picture of the Sunken Garden on a busy Saturday morning full of high school seniors. It was UPCAT day 1 already. How time flies fast. I remember my UPCAT, I had to take mine at the School of Economics, I was there with Sean, dunno if he remembers though. Eh well after 9 years, I'm still grateful I passed and graduated from UP! Let's go UP! Still it would have been nicer if I got to wear my sablay, and toga and all. Well I could still do, if ever I decide to take up my MS or even PhD, ah that's that. |
