My University
Tuesday, December 19, 2006 The majority of incoming students of the UP will experience higher tuition fees next academic year. The Board of Regents, the university's governing body approved this last Friday. Another thing that happened last Friday was the cancellation of the annual Lantern Parade. This was due to a threat to campus security according to Chancellor Cao. As I was weighing the pros and cons of the tuition fee increase, I realized that I haven't paid the electric bills yet. So I did. Anyway, I believe the University should just utilize its idle assetts in order to augment its funds. I don't think that students whose parents have high incomes should be penalized by imposing higher fees on them. Yesterday I met with a couple of my high school bodies. It was really difficult to set a night out with these guys. Okay it was Ivan who said that not me. That was not an original thought. I realized how much we've grown. I did, when i first met these guys I was a little above 5 feet now I'm 5'5. We exchanged pleasantries, had dinner, talked about how things were going, how each other was doing, the usual kumustahan topics. I guess I missed hanging out with them. Following the shooting of Cong. Bersamin last week, another Abra-related shooting incident occurred in the last 24 hours. The rest house of the mayor of Dolores, Abra was shot by unidentified gunmen, a rainfall of bullets hit the said house (pinaulan ng bala hehe). Next year UP will celebrate its 100th year!
