My Inappropriate Comment
Wednesday, April 20, 2005 I attended my brother's graduation, you know how many graduates there were? a thousand and two hundred, but that was just for the morning session, the after session had just as many graduates. Imagine the long wait, their classs went to the stage first because they were a part of the special science program. Then we had to wait for another 1000+ students. Imagine the applause the last student who walked the stage, at last the graduation rites were over. But no, of course they had to pledge, sing and sing a little more. I remember the emcee saying that there were only two high schools in the Philippines, Pampanga High School and the others. When I heard that, I, out of instinct I guess, and pride, uttered loudly "that's not right!" My seatmates stared at me, I guessed surprised at what I just said. Ano yun parang UP and the rest? Anyway, no harm no foul, I was just playing around, and I wanted to know how they would react, I bet they also graduated from there. No offense meant friends! I would have wanted to scream no it's Pisay and the rest, but that would have offended a lot, too many, the venue was full of PHS students and alumni. Ah I kid. As long as everyone does their part :) I actually am proud of that school, my dad was valedictorian of their class, my grandfather was a member of the football varsity and very active in their batch even up till now. It has produced great Kapampangans, one of which is our very dear mayor, Tatang Oca (feeling close ku neh Ching?). If you want to know more ask Ching :) Boss niya ngayon. And of course my cousin Ching :) I would have gone there had I not entered Pisay, but that is a different story altogether. And I'm happy I went there. And so it was, during the graduation of my brother, they expected he would take top honors among his class. But hey, he got into UP unfortunately though we are now here in Canada and I guess he won't be going back there anytime soon. |
