My Fishing Thoughts
Thursday, August 9, 2007 The title of this blog was inspired by my good friend and ever loving sister from another mother and father, Mabes. I really miss her. Anyway, it's been months since I last saw her. November 2006, to be exact, a few days just before my mom's birthday. Then she flew away, away to the Garden State and to the Big Apple, where she eventually found work. Like most people here in Canada and the States, fishing is one summer activity that most people look forward too and do. I have not caught the fever, not yet. But today, while I was at work I had my own fishing thoughts, sort of. My supervisor is still on vacation, and I was one day late with the tasks she assigned. Well my trainer called in sick yesterday, so we missed one day. Anyway, just after lunch, I was asked to perform fill weight measurements just like I did last week. I actually didn't do the actual measurements as I was still in training, they wouldn't allow me to sign paperwork. What I did was just prepare the capsules, first in their original form, where they were first weighed; and then empty them of the oil and we weighed the shells. Long story short I emptied 40 capsules. My gosh, I was smelling, how do you say malansa in English. I smelled of fish. And even the workbench smelled of the same, not even after spraying it with alcohol did the smell go away. I don't if it's still there now though. Well when working with fish oil, you have to be careful not to squirt the oil on your hair or on your lab coat. I swear even with the lab coat, the aroma sticked to my shirt and pants, which I took off hurriedly when I got home. I even got oil on my hair. I put mousse on it to mask the smell. I can't wait to learn new stuff, two weeks in training and I have more to learn. But I think I am gettig the idea on what our department is for. I didn't expect the pharmaceutical industry to be this complicated and interesting, and regulated too. I just pray I could have more opportunities to learn new stuff. It is only now that I can appreciate my Chem subjects in college, hope I could meet my old friend Thermo hehe. Well tomorrow, Friday again. Time sure flies fast. |
